Junior Hockey May Be Coming To Ear Falls-Red Lake

A group in Ear Falls and Red Lake is trying to bring junior hockey to the area.
Kevin Kahoot says they are in the early stages of securing a Superior International Junior Hockey League team.
He says there’s still some work that needs to be done but stresses the pieces are starting to fall together.
Kahoot says they have the financial and social ability to pull this together.
He says he believes in Ear Falls and Red Lake and notes both communities are great markets for junior hockey.
Kahoot says a public meeting on Monday at the Royal Canadian Legion will help them guage support.
The meeting starts at 7 o’clock and information on the league and the prospective team will be released.
It is believed that the junior hockey team will start in Ear Falls and move to Red Lake once a new Arena is built.
The franchise would be a breath of fresh air for the 12-year-old league and would provide a natural rivalry with Dryden and Red Lake.
There has also been talk of a group in Hudson bringing back a team in Sioux Lookout, however that hasn’t been confirmed.
