The prime minister is proving to be a popular draw in downtown Kenora.
Hundreds have turned out for Justin Trudeau’s visit to Lake of the Woods.
Speaking to a media scrum, Trudeau did address the serious issue of youth suicide on first nation communities in northern Ontario.
“We recognize there is two levels we have to take action on. One is the immediate support we can provide whether it is extra aid workers and psychologists and extra health workers. Whether it’s improving infrastructure and improving education in the immediate.”
Trudeau also talked about the NAFTA negotiations and providing more funding for social housing.
He leaves later this afternoon for the opening of the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg.
