KDMA reacts to Pickle Lake

What is happening in Pickle Lake is probably not an isolated case.
Several Municipal politicians worry that other small northern communities could also be in such dire financial straights, they might
consider turning day to day operations over to the province much like Pickle Lake Mayor Roy Hoffman did Monday.
Dryden Mayor Anne Krassilowsky, who is also President of the Kenora District Municipal Association, says something has to change soon.
Under a formula used by the OPP, Pickle Lake was looking at having to charge each household in the town $2,200 for policing alone this year which Mayor Hoffman says even a triple digit tax hike wouldn’t be enough
to cover.
