KDSB Deems Social Housing Units As Surplus

The Kenora District Services Board is one step further in replacing social housing units.

The Board has deemed 16 units in Dinorwic and Minaki as surplus, paving the way for their potential sale.

Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says the next step is working on a sales plan and looking at all options to dispose of the units.

Wall says there are currently 11 tenants impacted, some of whom have indicated they don’t want to move.

Wall says the Board will ensure the needs of all residents will be taken care of.

There is no specific time frame to complete any transfer.

Meantime, Wall says they have already deemed 12-units in Hudson as surplus and have an application in with the Municipality of Sioux Lookout to subdivide the property.

The moves will free up additional units for areas that need them the most.
