The Kenora District Services Board is spending $153,000 to support several programs across the District.
Ontario Works will spend $53,000 to provide backpacks and footwear for children of Ontario Works clients.
The Dryden Mayor’s Committee for Children and Youth will use $28,000 to offer recreation and leisure programs to children from low-income families.
P.R.O. Kids in Sioux Lookout will spend $9,500 on recreational opportunities for youth.
$6,000 is going to the Red Lake Indian Friendship Centre’s K.A.R.E. program.
Four programs in Ignace will share over $13,000.
Ignace Loonie Lunches is welcoming $4,800 for its program.
The Mary Berglund Community Health Centre will use the remaining funds for the Ignace Food Bank Enhancement program, a fruit and vegetable subsidy as well as Health transportation certificates.
Three Organizations in Kenora are also benefiting.
The Minto Resource Centre will receive $30,000 for breakfast coupons and other food related programs.
Folks at the Jubilee Church of God are welcoming $7,500 for a Youth Drop-In Centre.
Women’s Place Kenora is set to see $5,900 for various programs to support low-income mothers and their children.
