This warning after the recent news of a woman losing her vision because she didn’t take care of hers.
Dryden Optometrist Brian Lockyer says when buying contacts, daily disposables are the safest way to go.
Lockyer notes if you don’t properly clean your contact lenses, it can lead to corneal scarring and even blindness.
He also says that people mistake saline as a cleaning agent for contact lenses, but it’s just a salt water solution and has no cleaning action.
In Ontario, the dispensing of contact lenses is regulated and only available through optometrists, opticians and physicians.
