The Kenora bypass was closed last night due to concerns for the safety of motorists. Starting around 10:00 PM officers received complaints of 5 separate locations where tractor trailer units were stranded in their lanes due to the icy roads. The conditions of the highways combined with blowing snow and the stranded vehicles caused closure of the highway until it could be cleared. By 7:00 this morning officers were still dealing with stranded vehicles but were doing their best to keep traffic flowing.
Police are asking drivers to use caution as the roadways in the roads are still icy, where possible consider delaying plans to travel until the roadways can be cleared.
