5 of the 6 Unions at the Abitibi-Consolidated Newsprint Mill in
Kenora are back at the bargaining table this week.
The Mill closed down indefinitely over the weekend putting some 300
people out of work.
The 2 sides are trying to find ways of cutting operating costs so one
of the paper machines can be re-started.
United Steelworkers is not at the table and Gary Talarico says they
are focusing their efforts in finding a new owner for the Mill.
Talarico says they met with a prospective buyer last week.
Abitibi officials say they aren’t interested in selling at
this point.
