Kenora Liberal MP Roger Valley says it’s too early to tell if a Federal election will be triggered by the Afghanistan issue.
The Minority Government will table a motion Thursday on extending Canada’s combat mission.
Valley says debate is needed and amendments may be made but notes he doesn’t want to see an extension.
Valley says Canada has done the heavy lifting and its time for the country to end the combat mission in February ’09.
The motion will be placed on the House of Commons Order Paper but won’t be voted on until March.
Valley notes debate is needed and amendments to the motion may be possible.
The NDP will likely vote against the extension of the mission and the pivotal player in the debate appears to be Liberal Leader Stephane Dion.
