Kenora MP Not Expecting a Domino Effect

The MP for Kenora says the appointment of a third party manager to handle the finances of Attawapiskat First Nation is an isolated decision.
Greg Rickford says the Federal Government has no plans on following suit with other First Nations.
Rickford notes the decision was made after careful considerations.
He isn’t expecting a domino effect by making the move.
Rickford says they have been working with the remote community for 12-years after the First Nation entered into a co-management agreement at the request of the Government.
Rickford notes the third party manager will simply oversee future funding allocations for the community.
Rickford says a third party will ensure the objectives of both sides are being met.
