Kenora MP Promoting New Aboriginal Program

Helping aboriginal people get off welfare.
That’s the focus of a new plan being pushed Federal Aboriginal Affairs Minister Bernard Valcourt, who has announced $241 million in funding for the program.
Kenora MP Greg Rickford says the money will help aboriginal youth achieve the same job opportunities as other Canadians.
He says it ties specific skills for those 18-24 years old to training that actually leads to a job.
Rickford adds it has the flexibility to focus on smaller industries.
He notes they to provide opportunities for young aboriginals to break the cycle and put them in a good position for jobs.
