Kenora Conservative MP Greg Rickford says the Governor General was protecting Canadians when siding with Prime Minister Harper to suspend Parliament.
He says a cooling off period is needed and notes its time for the Conservatives to move forward.
Rickford says his party has some work to do to put out a budget that sends a strong message.
He believes the Conservatives can present the kind of budget Canadians can accept.
Rickford notes it remains to be seen if the NDP and Liberal are even interested in a budget.
Parliament will reconvene on January 26th.
