Kenora MP Says A Lot Of Work Behind Cannabis Act

Kenora MP Bob Nault is suggesting that everyone is better off with the revamped Cannabis Act.

Bill C-45 has received Royal Assent and recreational marijuana will officially become legal in Canada on October 17th.

Nault stresses the legislation will provide new powers for police and strengthen penalties for driving under the influence.

He adds strict penalties are also in place for those who make pot readily available to youth under the legal age, while allowing adults to legally purchase, grow and use a limited quantity of cannabis.

Nault says the government will now enhance public education initiatives to help everyone understand the new rules and timelines.

Canada has become only the second country in the world to legalize recreational marijuana.
