Kenora MP Supporting Mission In Iraq And Syria

Natural Resources Minister Greg Rickford says a proposal to extend and expand the Iraq mission is something that needs to be done.
Rickford says a majority of northerners and Canadians support the move.
The Kenora MP stresses they aren’t just taking a combat role in the campaign against ISIS.
Rickford says humanitarian aid will consist of protecting schools, supplying refugees with the supplies they need as well as basic support.
The government is planning to expand Canadian-led air strikes into Syria.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper is pledging troops will not engage in ground combat against ISIS.
Debate on the issue started immediately after the announcement was made Tuesday in the House of Commons.
Tom Mulcair started the attack and Rickford says it wasn’t one of his best performances.
Rickford is also surprised the Liberals didn’t distance themselves from the NDP’s stance in the House of Commons.
