Kenora MP Bob Nault believes the Prime Minister’s recent visit to the Pikangikum First Nation will pay long term dividends.
Nault suggests getting a first hand look at the conditions in the remote community will have a lasting impact on future government decisions affecting northern First Nations.
Nault says it was important for the PM to see the conditions and challenges in Pikangikum first hand.
Trudeau had a chance to meet with community elders and band councillors to talk about how to build an economy.
He notes there are 1,000 kids going to school in the Pikangikum elementary and high school system, with a community population of roughly 3,000.
Nault says there a lot of young people that need the support of the government.
