Kenora MPP Against Public Sector Wage Freeze

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell isn’t supporting a public sector wage freeze.
Campbell says it’s unconstitutional to force public employees to handle the brunt of the provincial deficit.
She says it’s unfair to cut wages while allowing the managers in the public sector to receive automatic bonuses totally over $35-million annually.
Campbell says some ways to balance the budget would be to close some of the corporate tax loopholes by permanently delaying the HST’s input tax credit and to work with the federal government to increase corporate tax compliance.
She estimates those ideas could save the province over $1.5-billion a year by 2018.
