Kenora OPP investigating death of missing man

The Kenora OPP say a missing 21-year-old Grassy Narrows man has been confirmed deceased.

Police, family and friends have been searching for Mekhi Waters Pelly since October 12th.

A 24-year-old man from Kenora has been arrested in connection to the police investigation.

He has been charged with committing an indignity to a dead body.

He appeared in Kenora Court on Monday.

In the meantime, the investigation is continuing under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Assistance is being provided by the OPP Canine Unit, the Emergency Response Team and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.

In the meantime, the search for Pelly’s remains is ongoing and the Treaty Three Police Service, the Kenora Makwa Patrol and community members are also assisting with the search.
