The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River is raising alarm bells following the release of a Health Quality Ontario report on poor access to primary care in Northwestern Ontario.
Sarah Campbell says local families should be able to see their family doctor or nurse without having to wait for days on end.
Campbell says the provincial report reveals nearly 3 out of 4 people in the region can’t see their primary care provider within 24-hours.
She notes the Liberals have watched this problem grow and stresses the government has failed us.
Campbell stresses our area should be receiving the same level of care as those in Southern Ontario.
The report reveals 28.4% of people in the northwest region are able to see a primary care provider within one day, compared to 44.3% across the province.
Campbell says that’s not acceptable and stresses our access to care is now the worst in the entire province.
