Kenora Schools Hit By COVID-19

The education system in Kenora has been impacted by COVID-19.

Two new cases are reported at Valleyview Public School.

The Kenora Catholic District School Board has also received notification of COVID-19 exposures impacting École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys and St. Thomas Aquinas High School.

It’s not known if the cases involve a student, teacher of staff member.

The school boards are now working closely with the Northwestern Health Unit on the next steps and making sure all potential risks are minimized.

Health officials are following up and all close contacts are being called and given instructions.

The classes and cohorts impacted have been closed but all schools remain open.

All students and staff must use the Government of Ontario’s screening tool https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ daily before attending school.

This follows three cases of the coronavirus in Sandy Lake First Nation related to travel.
