Kids fishing tournament taking place in Dryden

The Ontario Provincial Police are bringing back their Kids Fishing Derby.

It will take place on the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes on Thursday, August 21, at 11 a.m.

Sergeant Brittany Bembenek says people can pre-register their children, but it is not necessary.

“Though registration isn’t required, we encourage individuals to reach out and register if possible. If not, feel free to bring the family out for this fun, free event,” says Sgt. Bembenek.

For more information or to register, email OPP.Nnorthwest.Region@OPP.ca.

Bembenek says to encourage safety and interactions with police, they are restricting fishing to the west arm of the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes.

Prizes will be offered to different age groups for the largest walleye, bass and pike, as well as for the smallest catch.

OPP held a similar event in Kenora on Wednesday.
