Kiiwetinoong NDP Candidate Promises Airport Funding

The NDP Candidate in the Kiiwetinoong riding is announcing that their party will make investments to improve airports for fly-in communities.

Sol Mamakwa says his party’s first step will be to survey airports in order to allow operators to land safely in inclement weather.

Mamakwa also says they will support GPS-based LPV guidance systems which will allow for landings in conditions with less visibility.

He also says the NDP will commit to 19 airport surveys which should cost $10 000 each or $190 000 combined followed by analyses to identify what is needed for certification.

Mamakwa says that final step will cost around $2 500 per airport or under $50 000 altogether.
