The Lake of the Woods Hospital’s first full joint
replacement was performed today by Thunder Bay knee surgeon
Dr. Jon Porter.
50 Orthoscopic knee surgeries, and joint replacements
will be offered a year in Kenora and Fort Frances, while
Dryden will be doing 100.
Porter says the additional surgeries being offered in
Kenora will help shorten Thunder Bay’s waiting list times
by at least half.

Currently the wait time to get into the Regional Health
Sciences Centre is a year.
Porter estimates it should only take 3 to 5 months to get
an appointment for knee surgery in Kenora.
