The third time is a charm for Kurt Walsten of the Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
After falling just short the previous two years, the SIJHL has recognized Walsten as the league’s top coach.
Walsten guided his team to a franchise best 45 wins and 94 points.
The Ice Dogs also finished the season as the number 12 ranked team in Canada.
He now joins Clint Mylymok (2009-2010) and Randy Lulashnyk (co-recipient 2006-2007) as Dryden coaches to win the award.
The Ice Dogs open the playoffs next Wednesday at home.
They will play the winner of the Fort Frances-Thief River Falls series.
The Lakers are one win away from advancing.
