Dryden GM Ice Dogs defenceman Kyle Pouncy has been recognized for his work on and off the ice.
The 20-year-old from Kamloops, B.C. has been named the SIJHL’s RBC Scholastic Player of the Year.
Pouncy will receive a $1,000 scholarship to help defer costs of his post-secondary education.
He’s also up for a national award of $5,000.
Pouncy was third in offensive production among SIJHL defenceman with 42-points, including four game-winning goals.
He added 10-points in the playoffs.
Pouncy was a nominee for league MVP this season and will likely be nominated in several categories when the Ice Dogs hold their Awards Banquet Sunday night.
