Unless Canada Post and the Canadian Union of Postal Workers can reach a deal in a couple of days, the federal government is prepared to introduce back to work legislation.
Labour Minister Patty Hajdu says formal notice has been given to MP’s in the House of Commons that such legislation is set to be presented.
The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP says the earliest that can happen is Thursday.
Hajdu says at this point the government has yet to determine when legislation will be introduced.
She says she’s hoping for a negotiated end to the dispute, as they want to make sure the mail is moving during the busy holiday season.
A special mediator remains involved with talks.
