A 24-year-old Lac Seul First Nation man has embarked on a more than 1,100 kilometre trek to Humboldt, on foot!
Rance Cardinal stopped in Dryden overnight and is set to continue his journey Friday in a show of support for the Saskatchewan community and the families of the Broncos program.
Cardinal says the town needs support following the tragic Junior Hockey bus crash last week.
He notes this is a time for healing and he doesn’t want to ever see this kind of an event again.
Cardinal says he’s not raising any funds, he is just doing it from the bottom of his heart, and to support everyone in Humboldt.
Cardinal stresses he’s already received amazing support, with people either stopping for a picture or honking as they drive by.
He says he’s feeding off that motivation.
Cardinal says some people may doubt that he won’t be able to complete the walk, but all he wants now is encouragement and support.
He adds people say he’s crazy, but notes he’s not crazy, he’s Humboldt strong.
Cardinal is joined by his Uncle, who has helped raise him since the age of 10.
