Lac Seul Police officers begin using body-worn cameras

The police force that serves Lac Seul First Nation communities are now outfitted with body-worn cameras.

The Lac Seul Police Service confirmed that all uniformed officers will wear the recording equipment in order to document interactions with the public.

In a release, the service adds that the intention is to provide “an objective record to assist with investigations, training, and public confidence in our Service.”

It adds that the cameras are to be used in accordance with privacy laws as well as the Lac Seul Police Service policing purposes.

Located in the Treaty #3 territory, the Lac Seul Police Service has provided policing services to the Lac Seul First Nation communities of Frenchman’s Head, Kejick Bay, Whitefish Bay for 25 years.
