Lakehead University Grad This Weekend

It’s a celebration for 1,700 Lakehead University students when they graduate from the Orillia and Thunder Bay campuses.

The school’s President says the challenge going forward is attracting domestic students, with declining high school enrollment rates in northwestern Ontario.

Brian Stevenson says he’s also focusing on Aboriginal enrolments since they have a growing population in the region.

He adds he’s proud to see a thousand international students graduate this year noting when he first started in 2011 there was around 100.

Ceremonies are tonight and tomorrow at the Community Auditorium and they’ll include formal swearing in of the 9th Chancellor, Lyn McLeod.
