Lakers Stay Alive With Convincing Win

The Fort Frances Lakers have scored only one powerplay goal in the playoffs but that all changed Thursday night.

The Lakers scored four goals with the man advantage, including three on a five minute major in a 6-3 over the visiting Dryden GM Ice Dogs.

The second story of the game was emergency call-up Brendan Mallon from the Thunder Bay Fighting Walleye in the Junior ‘B’ League.

He replaced starter Izzy Ralsten who is serving a three game suspension.

Mallon made 43-saves in his SIJHL debut.

Trevor Kavanaugh scored on a powerplay, while Evan Walls scored short handed.

Dakotah Woods also found the back of the net.

The Ice Dogs still lead the Semi-Final 3-1 and will try again Sunday at home to wrap things up.

Game time is 4:00.
