Land Use Plan Agreement Reached

Deer Lake First Nation and the Ontario Government have agreed on creating a long term land use plan.
Deer Lake Chief Roy Meekis says the strategy will help protect traditional lands and create opportunities for resource development.
Minister of Natural Resources David Orazietti says the province is pleased to work side-by-side with the northern First Nation.
He notes the plan is essential in identifying local economic opportunities as well as protecting features of significant cultural and natural value.
Both parties say public input will be essential in forming the plan.
An open house has been scheduled for April 23rd in Red Lake.
