A late third period comeback came up short as the Dryden Ice Dogs fell to the Fort Frances Junior Sabres 6-5 Wednesday in Dryden.
The Dogs trailed 6-2 with 7-minutes left before capitalizing on Sabres penalties to get back into the game.
Kirk Olimb led Dryden’s attack with a pair of goals.
Chad Liley, Kevin Tomalty and Darren Turner added singles.
The Ice Dogs only managed 15-shots in 2-periods, before peppering Sabres goalie Ryan Faragher with 19-shots in the final frame.
Dryden’s next game won’t be until November 7th in Thunder Bay.
In other SIJHL play, the Sioux Lookout Flyers fell to the Fort William North Stars 11-2.
Kevin Paul and former Ice Dog Will Kinsman scored for the Flyers.
