Law Group Concerned with Proposed Changes

The Harper Government is getting some heat for its proposed amendments to the criminal code.
The Kenora Lawyers Sentencing Group is worried that some of the changes will result in an increase in the number of aboriginal people being incarcerated.
The group says that 85% of the male population in the Kenora Jail is of aboriginal descent, while 100% of the female inmates are aboriginal.
The Lawyers Group says the changes to the criminal code will reduce opportunities for restorative justice.
