The lawyer for convicted pedophile Ralph Rowe wants the Superior Court to stay his client’s 10-additional sexual assault charges.
Robert Sinding says the Crown acted in bad faith waiting several months after his 2007 trial to go ahead with the additional counts.
Sinding feels the timing of the new charges directly impacted Rowe’s parole application in British Columbia, where he’s currently serving a 3-year sentence on 4-indecent assault and 2-sexual assault convictions.
He says the continuing prosecution has taken a toll on both Rowe and his family, who want to put the issue behind them and move on with their lives.
Rowe was a Anglican Church Minister and Boy Scout Leader in Northwestern Ontario in the 1970s.
