Domtar has announced permanent layoffs at the Dryden Mill.
The company will shutdown the Number 2 Paper Machine and 2-cutsize sheeters next Saturday as a result of a major restructuring plan.
The Number 1 Paper Machine, which has been idled since April 2006, will re-start sometime next month.
Company Spokesperson Bonnie Skene says the company is balancing production with demand and the announcement is regrettable especially at this time of year.
The changes will result in the loss of 125-jobs and reduction of annual production capacity by 177,000 tons.
Domtar also announced today the permanent closure of its Port Edwards, Wisconsin Mill.
