Tourist outfitters from across Northwestern Ontario gathered in Kenora this week to discuss the future of Sunset Country.
Ontario’s Ministry of Tourism called the closed-door meeting to talk about its proposal to create 11 new tourism regions.
Sunset Country Travel Association Executive Director Gerry Cariou says they want the government to create a local region.
Cariou notes the proposed region for Northern Ontario is far too large and encompasses an area starting in Sault Ste. Marie and ending at the Manitoba Border.
