Legal Aid Dispute

Lawyers across Ontario are planning to withold their services to protest a lack of funding for legal aid.
A “study day” is planned today to support demands for changes to the legal aid system.

Legal Aid Ontario has developed a business plan for the provincial government.
It calls for an increase in the hourly rates over the next three years and an additional 10-percent premium for lawyers who travel to northern fly-in communities to represent clients.
