A failing grade for the Federal government on addressing youth safety concerns in Thunder Bay.
An Aboriginal Legal Service in Toronto has released the results of a report card on how well the government and others have responded to the recommendations from a First Nations Youth Inquest.
The feds received a D rating, while the City of Thunder Bay and the province both got C pluses.
Spokesperson Jonathan Rudin says all parties can still do more to protect youth.
Rudin says Canada has not actively engage with the recommendations and don’t appear to putting a dedicated effort in implementing the suggestions.
He says the City of Thunder Bay has moved forward with 97% of the recommendations, but notes most of those were short-term fixes.
Rudin adds Ontario has started to act on several of the recommendations, but says work should have started earlier.
