Legion Works To End Homelessness Among Vets

An effort is being made to end homelessness among Canadian veterans.

Jerry Lava is the president of the Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario Command for the Royal Canadian Legion.

“It’s a mechanism we’re trying to put together to get shelter to them right away and then look at long term goals we can set up through our service officers,” states Lava.

Lava says he’s currently working with the Canadian Legion in Ontario to not only address the problem, but help solve it as well.

“We’re working on things that try to identify the homeless veterans out there and there’s many in different locations.”
