In an update shortly after 9 a.m., the OPP say Highway 17 remains closed in both directions between Dryden and Shabaqua with officers on scene.
Officers with the Dryden and Ignace detachments first responded to the head-on collision at 1 a.m. and confirmed a fatality. The name of the victim has not been released.
Now, police say the road’s reopening time is unknown and a ‘lengthy closure’ is expected.
