Leonard Gustav “Len” Melander

Leonard Gustav ‘Len’ Melander, 77, of Bonita Springs, died peacefully with his family at his side on Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Joanne’s House at Hope Hospice. He was born June 12, 1933 in Dryden, Ontario, the son of Gustav E. and Lena (nee Shushack) Melander. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 56 years, Yvonne M. ‘Bunny’ (nee Skillen) Melander; his children, Shaun (Melanie) Melander of Portland, OR, Gerald (Cheryl) Melander of Kelowna BC, Kathryn (Blair) McKeil of Grimsby, ON and Barry (Crystal Shaw) Melander of Wabigoon, ON; sister and brother, Shirley Railian and Dennis Melander; and grandsons, Shaun, Joshua, Michael, Wyatt and Jarrett. Len was predeceased by sister Marilyn Slavin. A memorial service will be held in Dryden in July 2011 followed by the internment of ashes in the Wabigoon cemetary. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial contributions be made to Dryden Regional Health Centre Oncology.
