Heidi is a miniature Dachshund and she is celebrating her 17th birthday today in Red Lake!! That’s right……17!!
A Dachshund’s life expectancy is usually 12 to 15 years.
Her dog mom, Dayna O’Connor, says she’s had ‘Heidi’ since she was 7 weeks old.
I asked Dayna about the ‘celebration bottle’ seen in the main picture.
She said that was for herself later and that Heidi “doesn’t like wine … she’s more of a whiskey and beer girl! I’ve caught her dipping her nose into people’s cups if the drinks are left unattended. She’s had a great life!
Today she got some scrambled eggs in her breakfast and I will be grilling her a steak on the BBQ for dinner! (That she will share with her two fur-brothers) I figure at 17, she deserves all the good food!”
