The Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association wants to see the region have more authority over its own development.
NOMA is calling on leaders and candidates of the three elected provincial political parties to show their support for increasing the power that the Northwest has to make it’s own decisions regarding infrastructure, energy and natural resources.
Vice President David Canfield says it’s a win-win situation.
He adds that not only would it better for Northwestern Ontario, but it would be better for the province as whole because decisions will be made quicker.
NOMA will be working with all provincial parties and local party candidates to bring this issue to the forefront, in preparation for a possible 2013 election.
