A provincial review of the Local Health Integration Networks is now complete.
The final hearing was held in Thunder Bay Wednesday, with 12-presentations.
Speaking for the Ontario Native Women’s Association, Kezia Picard stated they are looking for a few changes to be made.
Picard is calling for the establishment of an Aboriginal Health Council.
She says research indicates that aboriginal people will experience better health outcomes if services are delivered in a culture based manner.
Picard notes it helps if the services are offered by an aboriginal agency or First Nations community.
