The NDP is calling on the province to up the ante on the compensation students will receive because of the five week long college faculty strike.
Each student is set to receive $500, a figure the NDP call a joke.
Advanced Education Minister Deb Mathews says some students may get more, noting in certain circumstances, colleges have discretion to grant more.
Matthews adds students receiving OSAP will receive assistance and those who decide to drop-out because of the length of the dispute will receive a full-tuition refund.
