Lightning Sparks New Fires

The forest fire hazard is high to extreme across Northwestern Ontario.
There are now 15-active fires burning.
Ministry of Natural Resources Information Officer Trevor Gauthier says they received 15,000 lightning strikes over the long weekend.
10-new fires were reported yesterday.
The Kenora district saw the most action with 4-new fires.
Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Fort Frances all had one new fire.
All of the fires are currently being monitored.
Gauthier says he’s expecting more holdover lightning fires.
