The Ontario Living Legacy Trust has announced nearly one-million dollars in funding for a forestry project north of Red Lake.
The money will allow the Whitefeather Forest Management Corporation develop its forest land use planning initiative.
The plan includes consultation throughout the region with other first nations, environmental organizations and forestry industries.
The funding will also allow researchers to collect data on the forest resource inventory in the Whitefather Forest, located about 500-kilometres northwest of Thunder Bay.
Pikangikum First Nation is a major partner in the project.
