Local Home Care Workers Vote in Favour Of Two Year Contract

A strike has narrowly been averted at ParaMed Home Health in Dryden, Red Lake and Ear Falls.

About 30-Unifor members have voted 60% in favour of a two year contract.

Local National Representative Stephen Boon says the unionized staff still have some concerns, but overall, they are satisfied with recent provincially funded wage increases of up to $4 an hour for all current employees.

Boon says key gains have also been made for recently organized members in Ear Falls and Red Lake.

Members were set to go on strike at midnight tonight.

ParaMed provides health and home support services in the area.

The new contract expires on June 1st, 2018.
