The Mayor of Dryden is asking the Federal Government to use half of
the $10-billion surplus on paying down the debt and the other half on
helping Canadians.
Anne Krassilowsky testified at the Standing Committee on Finance in
Ottawa Tuesday and stated that money is badly needed immediately for infrastructure, roads, re-training and helping the Northern economy.
Krassilowsky is also concerned that the Conservatives plan to role out
the Community Development Trust Fund over 3-years and not right away.
The Dryden Mayor and Red Lake Mayor Phil Vinet also asked the Government to accelerate land claim settlements in the North to allow for economic stimulation and new partnerships.
