Local Lodge Boosts Morale Of Forgotten Seasonal Guides

A forgotten trade in the tourism industry has caught the attention of the manager of Temple Bay Lodge.

Jeff Moreau held a ‘Support a Guide’ Tournament this past weekend, allowing seasonal guides to get back on the water to do what they do best.

He says these valuable workers have fallen through the cracks during the pandemic.

“These guys have been finding other jobs and doing what they can, so we’re just trying to support them in any way we can.”

Moreau stresses guides support local camps and the tourism industry, and they need them back and feeling supported when things return to normal.

When it comes to the tournament, Moreau notes, “It was a great event. It was a fun event with a mystery prize, so everybody had fun, we had a shore lunch, it was a good time!”

Moreau also joined the growing calls for the federal government to safely reopen the Canada/US border.

He says we have among the highest vaccination rates in the world.

Moreau says he really can’t understand why we are stalled out and not pressing on forward and opening things up.

He notes other jurisdictions have opened back up with much lower vaccination standards.
