A Dryden man has been fined $1,800 for dumping garbage on Crown land.
Court heard that last year Christian Johnston was paid to take a load of garbage to the Dryden landfill.
The landfill was closed when he arrived, so he transported the garbage south of Dryden to Bob Lake Road off Highway 502 and left it there.
He pleaded guilty at a court hearing earlier this month.
Dryden Mayor and Council have been asking staff to take a serious look at landfill hours, stressing on several occasions that the current schedule doesn’t adequately meet the needs of local residents.
